The Fund provides you with disability and life insurance at no additional cost. And you’re automatically enrolled for coverage.

Short-Term Disability

Quick reference

You are eligible for short-term disability coverage if you are a full-time or part-time member whose employer contributes to the Fund on your behalf, according to a collective bargaining agreement.

Call the Fund Office if you are ill or have a non-work-related injury and can’t work:

  • 860-470-8551
  • 888-705-1092 (toll-free)

Coverage highlights

  • If an illness or non-work-related injury keeps you from working, the short-term disability benefit pays you a percentage of your weekly income for a period of time.
  • You are eligible for plan benefits on the first day you miss work due to an injury.
  • If you are ill, you must first meet a waiting period before benefits begin.
  • Benefits are payable when the plan receives written proof that you are totally disabled due to an injury, illness, or pregnancy and require the active care of a licensed physician.
